German → English · Machine documentation only

English manuals your engineers don’t have to rewrite.

I’m Jo Fernwood, a mechanical engineer who translates technical documentation from German into English for machine builders: operating manuals, maintenance instructions, specifications and safety notes. Nothing else.

Why machine builders work with me

An engineer who translates

I trained as a mechanical engineer. I understand what a component does before I put it into English, so the translation describes the machine, not just the words.

Only machine documentation

I don’t translate marketing, contracts or websites. Operating manuals, maintenance instructions, specifications and safety notes are all I do.

Your terminology, kept

Send me your terminology list, or we build one together on the first job. I keep it and use it on every job after that.

A fixed price first

Work is priced per word. You get a fixed price and agree to it before I start, so there are no surprises on the invoice.

What that means for your team

  • Fewer review rounds for your own engineers. They check the English, rather than rewrite it.
  • The same words for the same parts in every manual. Your terminology carries over from one job to the next.

How a job works

  1. Send the documents

Email the German files and, if you have one, your terminology list.

  2. Agree a fixed price

I count the words and send a fixed price. Nothing starts until you agree.

  3. Terminology settled

I use your list, or we build one together on the first job.

  4. Receive the English

You get the translation, and your terminology is kept for the next job.
